Phoenix kits and components

Phoenix coach kits are successors to the 4mm scale BSL range, originally produced in the 1970s. The kits use a combination of cast white metal ends and fittings, and aluminium sides and roofs.. Detailing components are available separately and include plastic and etched bass parts.

Articles on the construction of Phoenix kits have appeared in a number of publications over the years. One of the most recent is:

Chapter Five “Assembling a pre-formed metal kit – A Southern Railway ‘Ironclad’ Brake Third“, in Stephen William’s book “The 4mm Coach – Part Two – Working with metal kits”, published by Wild Swan.

Not all the kits are currently available, awaiting a decision for tooling replacements. or a move to etched brass sides.

Phoenix coach kits have been used as a basis for producing exhibition standard models at Pendon museum.>

The majority of the Phoenix kits are Southern vehicles (Ironclads, Maunsell and Bulleid). However, the range of components also includes GWR, LMS and LNER items.

Note: These items are only available in 4mm Scale.
